ANDY WARHOL

Born in Pittsburgh in 1928, Andy Warhol is one of the most famous artists of the 20th century. In 1949 moves to New York, where he began working as an advertising graphic designer for magazines of the caliber of Vogue, Glamour e Harper’s Bazar. In the 1950s he created his first exhibitions. The first silk-screen prints date back to 1962, choosing comic book characters as the subject, the symbolic icons of his time and the commercial products. In those years he founded the Factory, studio that becomes a meeting place for artists and film and music stars. In 1967 creates his most famous work, Marilyn, 10 silk-screen prints depicting the face of the American diva. His artistic genius does not stop at painting but enters the world of cinema, of publishing and music. He dies in 1987 in New York after gallbladder surgery.

BANKSY

He is one of the artists most loved by the younger generations. The mystery surrounding his identity has further fueled his fame. His works are most often a criticism of politics, to the pop-cultural imagination, to the same art. For Banksy, art must belong to everyone. The artist does not authorize the exhibitions dedicated to him but does not prevent them. His works are sold by auction houses at record prices.
