Guccione's work

Guccione has been called the most "Leopardian" among the artists of the twentieth century for the echoes of solitude and infinity that evoke his works. A landscape, What Guccione transfers to the canvas, which is not even foreign Etna, the "mountains”, which the master recalls in a pastel on paper of 1995 with its snow-capped and visible summit, in the clarity of certain winter mornings, even kilometers away from the Hyblaean countryside plateau.

A documentary section completes the exhibition. Among the documents is a touching handwritten letter from Gesualdo Bufalino, addressed to his friend Piero, of whom he was a profound admirer. In a letter dated May 1995 – Bufalino would disappear in a tragic accident the following year – the writer from Comiso says: “This seems to me the meaning of your art, which combines pity together for a world offended by man and an insatiable thirst for innocence ".
