Etna Comics, the treasures of the Inda archive are on display at Palazzo Bellomo

It will be inaugurated on Friday 20 September, at 17,30, an exhibition on the treasures of the Inda archive entitled “Passions and illusions. The classic hero between myth and staging”.

Fruit of the collaboration between the Regional Gallery directed by Rita Insolia and the Archive of the National Institute of Ancient Drama, directed by Elena Served, the exhibition will remain open to the public until 24 November 2024 and will bring into dialogue the prestigious museum collection of Palazzo Bellomo and the material archive treasures of theWHEREVER, which tell more than one hundred years of theater history, of culture and art.

In the medieval architectural space of Palazzo Bellomo, in the heart of the historic center of Ortigia, you can admire sketches, vintage photo, stage clothes, maquette of the sets created by some of the greatest contemporary artists for the classical performances at the Greek Theater of Syracuse.

THE EXHIBITION

The exhibition is divided into three large thematic sections: the Passions, focused on the great actors who from 1936 to date they have interpreted the figure of the classical hero at the Greek Theater of Syracuse through the staging ofAjax of Sophocles and the passion of Be able to (Crown-bearer Hippolytus) by Euripides; the Illusions, section that will allow you to admire the stage costumes designed by Gianluca Falaschi for the tragedy Helena by Euripides set up by INDA in 2019 directed by Davide Livermore; and finally the Commedia which will allow you to admire stage costumes made for the comedies of Aristophanes and Plautus that the INDA has staged throughout its history both at the Greek Theater of Syracuse and in stone theaters in Italy and abroad.
