Giarre, the 17 May the fifth edition of the Radicepura Garden Festival starts

Will start the 17 May in Giarre la fifth edition of the Radicepura Garden Festival, biennial of the Mediterranean garden open until al 7 December 2025. THEME AND PROJECTS RADICEPURA GARDEN FESTIVAL

The theme of this fifth edition, chosen by the Artistic Director Antonio Perazzi, will be Chaos (and) order in the Garden. “The selected projects explore the guiding theme: nature is reborn from chaos and ideas are organised. The garden in this historical moment straddles the natural and the artificial and the projects that will be created give space to the slow times typical of nature, revealing the possibility of creating amazement and wonder, supporting development without rigid design standards, a way to respect the environment and the underlying ecosystems which in this way manage to coexist" comment Antonio Perazzi.

The festival confirms itself as an important occasion, one of a kind, from concrete practice of the Mediterranean landscape. From this perspective, the numerous testimonies that are significant are significant, edition after edition, internationally renowned landscape artists leave in the Park, giving life to a true author's collection which currently boasts contributions from François Abellanet, James Basson, Paolo Pejron, Michael Pena, Antonio Perazzi, Andy Sturgeon e Kamelia Bin Hall. In addition to Sarah Eberle's garden, the fifth edition will present ten gardens – of which 8 in competition e 2 in the Off Gardens category – created by as many teams of architects and landscape architects under 36 selected through an international call.

ART AND WORKSHOPS RADICEPURA GARDEN FESTIVAL

The Landscape Biennial offers the opportunity to delve deeper into the theme of nature and expresses it in many artistic languages. The protagonist this year will be the Sicilian artist Francesco Lauretta, which will inaugurate the 18 The exhibition will be open to the public from the exhibition RITUAL, fruit of his artist residency.

For the first time the festival and its gardens will also be at the center of the writing course organized by Holden School The roots of a story. Sow an idea, write a story, with the writer Mattia Corrente. During the course the participants, accompanied by an expert, they will work both with the botanical elements and with the narrative ones to build a plot, a project. Take inspiration from nature to adopt a narrative style based on the economy of the word, of essential writing. A workshop is also starting in July withUniversity of Catania – SDS Siracusa in Architecture and Cultural Heritage, giving students space to deal with the theme of design and landscape to debate new forms of design.

RADICEPURA GARDEN FESTIVAL EVENTS

Space for the cinema, in the end, with the return of the event created by Ornella Sgroi Garden in Movies (1-3 August), to which the international short film competition with the intention of investigating the garden theme through film narration, in a broad perspective capable of connecting the visual world with the centuries-old culture of the garden and landscape and stimulating a multicultural and contemporary debate. There is time until 30 April to participate in the Garden-in-Movies/ShortFilmFest competition, open to all short fiction films, documentaries, of animation, of any narrative genre (drama, commedia, thriller, science fiction, Fantastic, noir, ecc.), of a maximum duration of 15 minutes, of any nationality, published or unpublished, provided they are produced after January 1st 2023.

The festival will finally end on 7 December with the assignment of Gardenia Award. There will also be no shortage of classic events Sundays in the garden, music and food themed events, in addition to educational paths. It will be possible to book and organize highly personalized activities with Radicepura experts and the event's partners, as well as workshops and laboratories dedicated to the little ones.
