Acireale

Acireale stands on a lava relief overlooking the Ionian Sea. An elegant town, encased in the unmistakable Baroque style, it has numerous sites and monuments of historical and architectural interest, in particular the central Piazza del Duomo and the adjacent buildings. It has also become famous for the realization of one of the most famous and ancient Carnevale di Sicilia, even quoted by The Guardian among the 10 most beautiful in the world.
Reaching Acireale from Villa Maria is extremely simple and fast both by train and by car. The train takes just 20 minutes to reach the station, from which the city center is only 1.8 km away.
