Catania, completed the BellininRete virtual museum of music

Work on the BellininRete Virtual Museum of Music has been completed in Catania, which completes the redevelopment and refunctionalization of the site in Piazza San Francesco dedicated to the Swan of Catania. Overall a great museum centre, unique in its kind in Sicily and among the few in Italy. The museum, which will be officially inaugurated in January, it can already be visited by the public.

THE PROJECT

The project was financed with funds from the Pact for Catania, for around one million euros. The multimedia museum aims to improve the use and valorization of the Birthplace of Maestro Vincenzo Bellini and the Museum dedicated to him, through technology and creativity. On the one hand there is the digitalisation and use of the musician's documentary and musical heritage via the web, on the other one Virtual museum of music BellininRete in line with the new concepts of museum layout. Among the goals: tell the story of one of the greatest Catanian opera composers of the 19th century, thanks to texts created ad hoc and videos that make it possible to view the documents and objects present in the museum.
Bellini Museum

The BellinInRete Virtual Museum of Music offers an immersive journey for spectators, virtually transporting them to Bellini's places, from Naples to Milan, up to the foyers of theaters in Paris and London. Music and words accompany the visitor-spectator, restoring the fullness of the character, of the composer, of the man of his time. Compared to the original project, work was done in the executive phase to improve usability, arranging adequate museum signage, as well as an Italian/English system for accessing audio/video content.

 

Gives Villa Maria you can easily reach Catania by car and by train (the railway station is just a few meters away) in about 20 minutes.
