Piedimonte Etneo, a Presa delivered the mural “Between Water and Fire”
A socket, fraction of Piedimonte Etneo (CT), the mural is born “Between Water and Fire” by street artist Salvo Ligama. The initiative, promoted by the associations Il Borgo di Presa and Pro loco Presa, with the patronage of the Municipality, has the contribution of more than ten territorial partners. The meeting with Ligama was fundamental for the initiative, artist originally from Caltagirone with now international fame.
The chosen frame, inspired by the genius loci of Jack and Sicily, it is the façade of a private home overlooking the Belvedere which however, for years, it was improperly used as a car park. «Combining this prestigious initiative – they add Vasta and Catanzaro – to the urban redevelopment of Presa, we asked and obtained from the Piedimonte Etneo Administration the restoration of the pedestrianization of the small square, in a state of disrepair for some time. The work thus returns to public use a space of great landscape interest".
THE PROJECT

The project, created by activists, he brought “upon grafting” of a street art work in the Belvedere in via Ragonesi, become an open-air art garden.
"The target – explain the presidents of the two associations, Antonio Vasta and Salvatore Catanzaro – is to trigger a regenerating wave of the village. through art. It is a path successfully implemented elsewhere in Sicily as well as here, on the slopes of Etna, find an ideal context".
The mural is the latest in a series of territorial enhancement interventions by the two associations in Presa. The hilltop village, abandoned for years, today it is increasingly rediscovered by visitors and tourists.
«The village of Presa – declares the mayor of Piedimonte Etneo, Ignazio Puglisi – it is increasingly becoming an example of enthusiasm and attachment for the entire province of Catania and beyond. Once upon a time the hamlet was vital and very popular, then for many years it was no longer the case. Today Presa is back where it deserves, with a touch of quality, thanks to the commitment of the citizens of the village. The Administration is concretely alongside the efforts of the Presa community – concludes the mayor – on the many activities carried out".
