NaxosLegge 2022, at the start in Giardini Naxos

The XII edition of NaxosLegge kicks off in September, Storytelling Festival, of reading and books with the artistic direction of Fulvia Toscano. Over fifty events this year inspired by the theme of "Body". The appointments will be held between Giardini Naxos, Messina, Catania, Syracuse and other municipalities of the three provinces. The demonstration, supported by the Regional Department of Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity, then strengthens the collaboration with the Naxos Taormina Archaeological Park, directed by Gabriella Tigano.

Between theater, poetry, philosophy, archeology and great universal literature, the festival will have extraordinary guests. The 10 September the Greek director Theodoros Terzòpoulos will receive an award, known for the acting method that emphasizes the role of the body. Still theater on 30 September with the “Corporate crime” section and four cold case which had Enrico Mattei as protagonists, Giangiacomo Feltrinelli, Raoul Gardini (suicidal in 1993, in the years of Mani Pulite) and Federico Caffè, almost all of them disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Naxoslegge, the 24 September, it will also be in the waiting room of the Taormina-Giardini station, jewel of art deco and place-symbol of travel and knowledge. The station will be the setting for Joyce's Ulysses, with the poet and translator Alessandro Ceni and the students of the Dams of Messina.

NICHE EVENTS

Among the niche events, linked to the section "The Body of Women", coordinated by Marinella Fiume, the one dedicated to Tròtula, woman doctor who lived around the year one thousand and author of the first treatise on gynecology and obstetrics. For the section "Looks at the East", the 17 September, a portrait of the Japanese writer Yukio Mishima, with the interventions, among others, of the translator and a manga expert. And then "Written on the body", with the testimony of those who boldly cross its limits every day, like the case of Paola Tricomi from Catania, PhD at the Normale di Pisa and author of the film "Per Desiderio". And then again Simona Cascio from Messina, captain of the deaf national basketball team with whom in 2021 won the European Championships. In the end, the 28 e 29 September, an investigation into the phenomenology of power with the debate between historians and political scientists of antithetical positions. Then, the 30 September, a metapolitical conversation between two scholars who have always stood out from the crowd, Marco Tarchi and Alain De Benoist.
