Il percorso è poco impegnativo, ma molto suggestivo e di straordinario interesse.
Una volta lasciata l’auto si segue il sentiero tracciato dalla forestale, lungo il percorso si incontrano dei boschetti di betulle e delle spettacolari bombe vulcaniche.
Guardando a monte del sentiero si vede il vulcano Etna in tutta la sua bellezza e davanti a lei si può vedere Monte Frumento delle Concazze, uno dei più grandi coni avventizzi del vulcano Etna.
I monti Sartorius, prendono il nome dallo studioso che per primo ha riportato su una cartina le più importanti eruzioni dell’Etna.
I monti Sartorius sono dei conetti eruttivi che si caratterizzano per tipico allineamento detto a “bottoniera”.
Raggiunta la parte sommitale dei conetti si può osservare la loro struttura interna, del tutto simile a quella di un vulcano di grandi dimensioni, anche se in scala ridotta.
Il percorso si snoda lungo la sommità dei conetti, seguendo il perimetro delle bocche eruttive ormai spente ed offre un panorama molto bello, lo sguardo spazia a 360 gradi passando dalla cima dell’Etna a Taormina, dal golfo di Catania a quello di Siracusa.
